Des Moines, Iowa – October 20, 2013 – It is with the heaviest of hearts that we have to announce the tragic passing of Dullahan. Dullahan died in the early hours of October 20th in Lexington at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital due to acute colic complications.

There are countless individuals that contributed to Dullahan’s success and care. Most notably Frank "Goree" Smith who broke and prepared Dullahan for the races in Elloree, South Carolina. Dale Romans and his entire staff whom trained Dullahan for the last three years and guided him to three Grade 1 victories and earnings of $1,735,901. Also our sincerest gratitude to Richard Budge and his staff at Winstar Farm as well as the surgical staff at Hagyard Equine Medical Institute for their tremendous efforts in trying to save Dullahan’s life. We would also like to thank Dullahan’s fans for their admiration and support throughout his career which made his journey all the more special for the partners of Donegal Racing.

Donegal President Jerry Crawford said "I am devastated that we will not get to see baby Dullahans growing up and becoming gorgeous racehorses."  Instead we will be left with the incredible Grade I memories of the Dixianna Futurity, the Toyota Bluegrass and the voice of Trevor Denman at last year's TVG Pacific Classic saying 'bounding home in the center of the track that's Dullahan and Dullahan's got him' referring to Dullahans defeat of Game on Dude and other older horses as a three year old."
