Keen Ice is in the Pegasus!

December 27, 2016

Dear Partners and Friends,

The twelve million dollar Pegasus on January 28 will have KEEN ICE in the starting gate.

An agreement was finalized on Christmas morning (better than a lump of coal).

Below is the press release that will go out this afternoon announcing the partnership with Ronnie and Jerry Frankel. One interesting side note is that Jerry Frankel is a Broadway producer and knows Joe's daughter Megan Savage. Two degrees of separation and all that.

As the press release indicates, the terms of the agreement are confidential as that was a negotiated term by the Frankels. I can tell you that Donegal will put up no cash to run in the race.

Any partner in DDVI can email/call me for more specifics but they cannot be disclosed beyond that.

Here is the press release:

JERRY AND RONNIE FRANKEL TO PARTNER WITH DONEGAL RACING AND KEEN ICE AT PEGASUS

Pegasus gate owners Jerry and Ronnie Frankel and Jerry Crawford of Donegal Racing announced today that they have signed an agreement to run Keen Ice in the 2017 Pegasus World Cup.

"Everyone knows that California Chrome and Arrogate are in a league by themselves but we believed from day one that Keen Ice was the best 'other' horse available, and he has proven it in his last two races," said Jerry Frankel. "Of course, everyone thought that American Pharoah was in a league by himself the day Keen Ice beat him in the Travers proving anything can happen," added Frankel.

"We are excited to partner up with the Frankels," said Jerry Crawford, who runs Donegal Racing. "Keen Ice could not be training better. We love the opportunity to run in the biggest race by purse in American racing history."

"Jerry and Ronnie really believe in this race and what it can do for horse racing, and we are glad to provide them a quality horse to take a shot," said Crawford.  "Our partners are also very excited about the race and, as usual, scores of our partners and their guests will be on hand January 28."

Keen Ice's trainer Todd Pletcher said he was pleased to learn of the partnership stating, "The Frankels and Donegal have put together a win-win arrangement and now one of the best horses in training is locked in."

Brad Weisbord facilitated the transaction for both parties. Financial terms of the agreement are being kept confidential.
