This Week and Last Week

Last Week:

Irish You Well stamped himself as a big time contender with his win in the Long Branch Stakes at Monmouth.  Thought you would enjoy the photo of Joe Savage hoisting the trophy.  Dale Romans and Indian Charlie have nothing on the brawl Donegal has coming it's way when Joe tries to hoist a trophy if Dr. Amaseur is present!

This Week:

Two Stakes contenders on Saturday!

Finnegan's Wake will run in the Arlington Handicap, Race 7 at 3:55 p.m. Finnegan is the #5 (of 6) in the Grade III, $200,000 race. If Finnegan is ready to run back to his best form of a year ago he will be a force with Victor Espinoza up.

O'Prado Ole will run in the Stars and Stripes, Race 8 at 4:25 p.m. Ole is the #9 (of 10) in the Grade III, $150,000 mile and a half outing. Ole will be a long-shot but I think one worth a few dollars. I keep waiting for this horse to break through.  We have no idea how he will like going this far, though he is certainly bred for it.

The forecast calls for rain and soft going Saturday and Finnegan hasn't liked that in the past.

If you haven't let Alex know you are coming please email her immediately at office@donegalracing.com!

Donegal has these two stakes runners this weekend, Irish in the Haskell and a barn full of talented two year olds getting ready to make their first start.  What a great time!

Finally, Conor Crawford and I are headed to Lexington to work the Fasig Tipton yearling sale where we found Smart Cover last summer.  Here's hoping for similar success this time as we get started building Derby Dreams VII.
