No Treats on Halloween
With Bill Mott as positive about a horse as a trainer can be, Puca missed the break and was then stone cold stopped twice (backstretch and in the lane). With all that, (on an abusrdly speed favoring dirt track) she got beat three lengths from first.
I could not be more confident when I say that Danny Boy was the best horse in his race and Puca the best in hers. Wouldn't trade for any of them, and if they stay healthy we will get the last laugh.
None of which makes any of us any happier to lose. The truth is, we buy horses to run longer distances in their three year old year. Trying to win going short at two is not really our game.
Does it seem we had beyond the pale bad trips two days in a row? Yes it does. With two of the best jocks in America. Go figure.
As for Finn, God love him! Wasn't ever going to keep up with those fractions, but even with that he made a nice move in the lane only to get blocked...which kept him out of the top five paying places.
I have never felt more positive about our stable. We are going to have one hell of a 2015 and hope to start it off at the Remsen on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Kind of an early new year ;)
