A Deep Breath at the Sales
Today was unproductive at the Sale.
We had minor interest in a Giant's Causeway colt and felt he would be a good risk at $150,000. When he went for $210,000 we kept our hands in our pockets.
Somewhat sadly we then lost an outstanding Pulpit colt. Like our first two purchases this boy was a ready made stallion if he performed on the track. Conor Crawford and I felt like this was a place to stretch but others felt the same way as we saw him go for $500,000 to someone else's home.
Of interest today was a War Front colt that brought $2.2 Million dollars. We failed him ;).
We now will work hard to scout through the horses for the next four days as tomorrow is the only "dark day" in the sale which means no more horses will sell until Saturday when we will go from selling 180 horses per day to 400. Deep breath time!
I feel terrific about where we sit with two strong stallion prospects in the barn. And a lot of money yet to spend.
Check in again with you all come Saturday.

PS The names suggested so far have ranged from brilliant to absurd. A person whose identity will be protected suggested "KittyKitty Candy" for our Candy ride colt. Now there is a strong stallion name. Not. George Catalado had by far the best suggestion for the colt which was Candy Crush, the internet sensation/game invented in Ireland. Sadly, the name was taken in 2011.
