Can You Smell The Roses?

April 11, 2015

Dear Partners and Friends,

"Jerry, how can we possibly get in when we are 22nd on the list after the Arkansas Derby?" This and questions like it have consumed my cell phone.

Here is all you have to know: We have a secret weapon. Her name is Leslie. She is even smarter than Joe Savage. And on Derby points she is WAY smarter than Joe Savage. And Leslie says we are golden and that we got exactly what we wanted in Arkansas and there are no more points to be had.

My sources collectively say as follows: Keep your eyes on Bolo (headed to turf), Ocho, Ocho Ocho, Upstart (missed a work this a.m. with a fever), Itsaknockout and One Lucky Dane in the coming week and don't be surprised when one or more of them announce they won't be running. And that doesn't count other horses that develop physical ailments. Then there will be those like Mr. Z, who should announce they aren't running but won't.

Is it a lock? Well Vegas sport's books took down their proposition bet where you could wager it would take over or under 20.5 points to get in. Because they knew they would lose their arse to under betters. But no, that doesn't make it a lock. Yet.

Meanwhile, back at the farm Keen Ice is getting ready. According to Dale Romans and Donegal Partner Tom Camp, Ice was visually impressive this a.m. posting a solid work and doing it easily.

We are checking to see if anyone has ever had a horse in all three of the Oaks, Derby and Woodford. More on that soon.

It has been a very good day.

Jerry
