Busy Times!

September 3, 2014

Dear Partners and Friends,

Busy times indeed! This weekend could end up being the most important weekend of the year for Donegal Racing. First and foremost, Danny Boy, our first out Maiden winner, will take a huge step up and run in the Grade II (Win and You're In) Iroquois Saturday afternoon at Churchill Downs. This is the first point race for the 2015 Kentucky Derby.

If you plan to come and haven't told us yet, please do so TODAY! First post is 12:45 and lunch will be served in the Donegal Suite at the Jockey Club from 1 to 2 p.m.

A win in this race would be free entry into the Breeders' Cup Juvenile at Santa Anita on November 1. The race Saturday HAS come up very tough, and two other trainers believe they are bringing horses that will be hard to beat.

Also kicking off this weekend is our work at the Keeneland Sale. On Friday we will look at the first 94 horses we have identified based on pedigree. On Saturday, we will begin putting them through all of our tests. Bidding starts on Monday. Anyone wanting to come join us at the sale should let us know. You are welcome, but bring your walking shoes :).

With the upcoming purchase of horses, the naming will begin. The Committee is appointed and ready to go (and anonymous of course). All should feel free to submit names. This year we had a ton of positive feedback about our names, including one reporter who said Irish You Well was the best named three year old.

Jerry

P.S. For those of you who will be in Louisville Saturday, we have the words of "Danny Boy" printed on cards so we can practice in the suite and be ready for the winner's circle, should we be that fortunate!
