Breeders' Cup!

Dear Partners and Friends

A number of you have asked questions about the schedule for the Breeders' Cup. I made a few calls today and wanted to share what I have learned as you all make travel plans. So here you go:

20 October - Pre-entries

22 October - Fields announced with preference. What does this mean?  Take PUCA for example. She has not won any qualifying races or points so if the field overfills (more than 14) the panel will decide who gets in from among the horses that are named (like PUCA) but who have no points. Danny Boy qualifies on points so is in automatically. Finnegan would also have to be chosen though he does have 8 points. Of importance, from these three races there has only been one 14 horse field (the limit) ever. So the likelihood of trouble here is slim.  

27 October - On Monday morning the "breakfast marquee" opens for the week. A great place to get a Wolfgang Puck prepared breakfast and hang out with all the big name trainers, owners, etc. while watching our horses in their morning gallops. Your credentials get all of you in.

28 October - This is the Tuesday post position draw for the fields in each race. It occurs at 12:30 at the racetrack.

29-30 October - Racing at Santa Anita on Wednesday and Thursday.

30 October - Following the races on Thursday (6 to 9 p.m.) is "Evening with the Stars" at the Rose Bowl Stadium. This is a ticketed event with limited access. We will get all we can and give to all who want to attend. Dress will be casual.

31 October - First day of the Breeders' Cup.

2:25 PM Race 6: Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (DANNY BOY)

5 to 9:30 PM: Bobby Flay hosted "Taste" event at Huntington Library. Cocktail/racetrack attire (best to go straight to event following races). Tickets extremely limited. Again, we will do the best we can for those wanting to attend. I don't know how many tickets we will get but it will be more than anyone else ;). If it comes down to it we will allocate based on percentage of ownership.  

1 November - Second day of the Breeders' Cup.

12:05 PM  Race 5: Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (PUCA)

3:22 PM  Race 9: Breeders' Cup Turf (FINNEGAN'S WAKE)

5:35 PM  Breeders' Cup Classic (Next year ;).

6-10 PM  Celebration for everyone connected to any horse that won a Breeders' Cup race. Word has it this was an awesome party last year so let's go this year!!!!
