Amnesia and the Handicapping Tournament

Dear Partners and Friends,

Amnesia? The only cure for February 6.

Rock Shandy hated the grass. Back to dirt for him. Paddy O'Prodigy (Indiana bred) is just overmatched here in Florida and it was a mistake to bring him down here. We will send him to Elloree and then back to Kentucky when Indiana resumes racing on the grass.

Keen Ice is complicated. He got the slowest fractions of the day to run at. He missed the break. The run to the first turn is extremely short. The stretch is the shortest stretch in racing. And the track is very speed favoring. Despite all of that Ice ran a 100 Beyer and only lost by four lengths. Despite all the excuses, I thought Ice looked flat and not ready to run. He is tricky and always convinces the connections that he is ready to roll but it isn't always so.

On to Dubai for the March 3 prep race and the March 26 World Cup. We are pleased that the folks in Dubai pay all of the expenses to send our horse to Dubai. The extra eighth of a mile in Dubai will be our friend.

On Monday you will receive instructions for our annual three part handicapping contest. Part I will be the 50 point Derby prep races. Part II will be the 100 point Derby races and the Triple Crown will be the final part.

Onward to better days!

Jerry
