A, B, C
Dear Partners and Friends,
Patrick's Day gave us an A effort today and that, along with a perfect ride by Miguel Mena, equaled the WIN at Churchill Downs. Patrick beat some nice horses and is showing signs of being a financially productive part of our stable.
Finnegans Wake was about a B yesterday. Finn got a wide trip throughout running 31 feet longer than the winner. I personally thought he looked like he might need that race to get back to his best, which he will need in the Grade I Eddie Read Stakes at Del Mar on Sunday, July 17. Donegal will make an appearance at Del Mar so let us know if you plan to attend.
Tradfest gave us a C performance in his first start lifetime. It was admittedly a tough field but we had hoped for more. Bill Mott thought Trad looked like he was spinning trying to grab the dirt and so will move him to the turf for his next start. I am confident we will see major improvement in his next start.
Next up will be Oatfield June 12 in a MSW race at Churchill. Oatfield has been working well but will also likely need a race before showing his best.
Best news of all: Keen Ice is doing great and will be back in training next week.
SARATOGA: We have solid reservations throughout the meet but only a couple of spots are completely full. Please let us know ASAP if you can make it up. No matter what your thing is, Saratoga will fit the bill. Our house is close to the track and very comfortable. We have capable and intense handicapping activity. The restaurants are superb. The night life (I am told ;)) isn't half bad. If you have been there you know it is terrific and if you haven't it is about time. Let us know.
