On the Board!

Dear Partners and Friends,

It took one full sales day and the early stage of another, but Donegal Racing is on the board at the Keeneland/September sale.

Donegal purchased Hip #216: A Malibu Moon colt out of an Afleet Alex mare with even more stamina coming from Saint Ballado as the grand broodmare sire. We paid a bargain price of $210,000 as this lad fell through the cracks a bit. Our specialty :).

The folks who raised this colt at Runnymeade Farm (we dealt with Romaine Malhouitre) could not say enough nice things about him and were effusive about him going to Donegal. Having said that, you should know that Runnymeade's colors are green and yellow and Romaine worked for years in Ireland before coming stateside. 

Our team was uniformly excited about this colt. You may well remember his broodmare, Bizzy Caroline, who ran a 6 on the sheets and ran out $348,000. She is also a half sister to Lady Eli who won the Breeders' Cup Juvenille fillies turf and ran out $1,500,000.

When Linda and I spent time with him yesterday he was full of personality and energy and I had a sneaking suspicion it was meant to be!
