Racing and Sales

August 29, 2014

Dear Partners and Friends,

So much action. First things first: The Iroquois is next Saturday, September 6. This is the first Kentucky Derby Point Race for the 2015 Kentucky Derby and we will be sending Danny Boy to the gate coming off his impressive first time starter victory. These are afternoon races.

The Donegal suite is available for night racing on Friday, September 5 and
afternoon racing Sunday, September 7.

Please let us know by this coming Tuesday if you plan to attend and if so, which sessions so we can make sure we can accommodate all of you. We anticipate a big crowd. Last year Donegal dominated this race finishing both first and second.   It will be hard to top that ;).

See the updated racing chart for all the other racing coming your way. Our stable has NEVER been stronger and we anticipate significant purse earnings during the remainder of 2014.

I thought you would be interested to know that the horse that beat Brother O'Connell in his first start came back yesterday to WIN the With Anticipation at Saratoga. Hugely flattering to our Brother. Christophe Clement is very pleased with this colt and I am inserting a video from yesterday following his breeze. This colt will run next September 14 at Belmont.

This, on top of the exciting third place finish by PUCA in an open MSW company at Saratoga this week. Both PUCA and BROTHER have raced without lasix, which makes their efforts all the more impressive.

Sales:

The Keeneland Yearling Sale begins Monday, September 8 at Noon. Our work begins next Friday as we have identified about 480 horses to physically inspect during the first eight days of the sale. A much higher number than usual which should make buying a bit easier. I hope those aren't famous last words!

As always, we welcome visitors to the sale. Those who have attended find it a fascinating experience with a lot of hard work. Many miles walked.

This is the time of year when we form our one and only annual partnership and we will be in touch with all of you about it.

See you soon!

Jerry

PS. Donegal congratulates partner Eliot Honaker for winning the National Handicapping Championship Qualifying event at Churchill Downs. Eliot finished first out of 277 entrants and will now compete in the World Series of Handicapping in Las Vegas in January. Donegal is not short of good handicappers!
