Names and Races

September 30, 2014

Such an exciting time to be part of Donegal.

NAMES:

DDVII (now 72% sold after 5 days) is full of promise and the always entertaining naming process has begun.

The Right Honorable Naming Committee is pleased to report that OATFIELD has been chosen as the name of the Candy Ride colt. You will recall that Oatfield was a long time "candy" maker in Donegal, Ireland. Look for some tasty Oatfield candies at a Donegal race in the future!

The Curlin colt with the touching Easter birth that resulted in the death of his broodmare is crying out for the perfect name. Resurrection is taken. RISINGS is being seriously considered by the Committee. The double entendre is impressive, as "RISINGS" is the name given to the armed efforts by the Irish to resist British oppression through the centuries. The Committee invites your thoughts on the name as they understand we can't prevent you from sharing them in any event ;).

RACES:

It is now virtually certain that all three of our horses will run this weekend. On Saturday, Keen Ice will start in the Grade I Futurity and La Macchina in a MSW. Danny Boy will start in the Grade I Bourbon on Sunday as Donegal fights for a place in the starting gate at the Breeders' Cup, as well as all important Derby qualifying points.

If you have not let Alex know you are coming please contact her TODAY so we can make final arrangements.

It just doesn't get any better than this!

Jerry
