ACTION

Two Donegal runners go to post this Sunday.

PUCA, our 2yo filly who is a half to Finnegan's Wake and Squall King, will begin her racing career against all the heavy heads here at Saratoga. PUCA goes in Race 7 and drew the #8 post for the race which will be run at six furlong at 4:18 p.m. EDT. This MSW race has a purse of $83,000. Trainer Bill Mott says PUCA wants to go much longer than six furlongs but it is time to get her started. She is 20-1 and I believe she will run better than that. Not likely to win but we will see some talent out of her during the race.

CULPRIT, our 3yo colt, who we at one time thought might be our best colt in that class, will run in Race 6 at Ellis on Sunday at 3:10 p.m. CDT.   This means these two races will be run about 8 minutes apart. Culprit is 7-2 and will break from the #7 post. Purse for the one mile tilt is $35,500. Would be great to get him back on track!

AUDIBLE

Finnegan's Wake is now likely headed to the Grade I Arlington Million a week from tomorrow, August 16, in Chicago. The field came up with only seven horses and we are rated ahead of several of them. Finn ran a very strong 4th last year in a big field so we hope he can step up and run well in this spot for a cool million dollars and legitimate stallion consideration. We need to know ASAP if you are coming and we hope you all do. We have a limited number of hotel rooms reserved. Let our office know (office@donegalracing.com) immediately if you need a room. We could end up using two hotels. We also will arrange your seating at the track.

AWESOME

How else to describe our time at Saratoga. If you have been here you know what I mean. If you haven't, you need to come. Emerging Donegal star O'Prado Ole will run in the Grade I Sword Dancer here on Sunday, August 17 for a cool $500,000. Because of the shuttle diplomacy needed for Donegal leadership to be at the Million Saturday and the Sword Dancer Sunday there will be no Donegal party on Saturday evening. If Ole does what I think he will, we will do an impromptu event on Sunday evening.

ACQUISITIONS

The New York Bred Sale is much stronger than the Select sale and presumably at lower prices. We have seven colts headed into the vetting process and hope to come away with a couple of New York breds that look better than many of the Selects last week. Sale is Sunday/Monday nights. Stay tuned.
