DD14 Yearling Updates

December 21, 2020

UPDATE ON SOON TO BE TWO YEAR OLDS (DDXIV):

What an amazing group we have put together in DD14. We have had our earliest ever positive reports from the training farms as you will see below.

CURLIN out of ESKENDEREYA broodmare

This colt is at Elloree, South Carolina and Frank Smith says he is very athletic. About what we would expect. Frank declared this colt to have Grade I potential way back in September when we bought him. Here he is in all his glory!

DISTORTED HUMOR out of a GIANT'S CAUSEWAY mare

This colt got a lot of attention at the sale. We are talking Belmont style stamina. He will also like the long turf races as well. Now that he has had him for three months and seen him on the track Frank Smith says his opinion of the horse has gone up! Frank says a great disposition and a natural athlete. At this moment Frank puts him number one in the group of five that are at Elloree.

EXAGERATOR out of a GILDED TIME mare

This boy impressed everyone at the sale by how big and good looking he was. This is Exagerator's first two year old crop and so the book is still out but so far we like what we are seeing with this guy. I wanted him really badly at the sale and loved getting him. Frank says he has a great body and is nice to be around.

HARD SPUN out of an EMPIRE MAKER mare

Some of you know I love Empire Maker as a broodmare sire. DONEGAL BAY has one and so does this HARD SPUN colt! This bloodline can provide outstanding stamina and class. Frank Smith has this boy in Elloree and Frank says this colt is as tough as they come. Not a surprise for a HARD SPUN colt.

KITTEN'S Joy out of a MORE THAN READY mare

This colt is bred to run from here to Chicago and he will do it on the turf! We bought this colt at the Fasig Tipton sale and everyone was gaga over him. Frank Smith has him and says we were right to be so excited about him at the sale. Frank says he is going to be big and strong and be a force to recon with come his three year old year. Very athletic way of going down at Elloree.

STREET SENSE out of a BROKEN VOW mare

Everyone on our team at the sale liked this boy. He screams "distance" to look at him and you can see why with BROKEN VOW as a broodmare sire. This colt is training at Abracadabra Farm in Ocala and Barry Berkelhammer said this week that he really likes this colt. That is a little like being blessed by the Pope. When Frank or Barry tell you you have a good one it is time to pay attention!

UNCLE MO out of a Mr. GREELEY mare

(in partnership with Albaugh Racing)

Having two Uncle Mo's in this crop is cause for optimism as we see what DONEGAL BAY (by Uncle Mo) is doing at the racetrack. The Buckley Clan is always advocating for "Mo Uncle Mo" and they are getting their wish :) For this colt to pass all the Donegal tests AND all the Albaugh tests (passed by Berkelhammer and Romans) you know he has a lot going for him.

UNCLE MO out of a PULPIT mare

Athletic and eager at the farm. I think he will get to the races early!
