Donegal Racing's Donegal Moon was the 1 1/4-length winner of Sunday's Grade 3 Betfair.com Pegasus Stakes at Monmouth Park, giving jockey Joe Bravo his second graded stakes winner of the weekend after taking the Stephen Foster on Bradester Saturday night. A sophomore son of Malibu Moon, Donegal Moon covered 1 1/16 miles on the fast main track in 1:44.15 for trainer Todd Pletcher.

Donegal Moon (Malibu Moon) scored his first graded stakes victory Sunday with an upset of previously undefeated “TDN Rising Star” and two-time graded winner Unified (Candy Ride {Arg}) in Monmouth Park’s GIII Betfair.com Pegasus S., which is one of two local preps for the July 31 GI Betfair.com Haskell Invitational S.

Multiple graded stakes winning Finnegans Wake called upon his considerable class as he overcame a slow pace to win Thursday’s $65,000 Santa Anita allowance feature by a half length under Flavien Prat. Conditioned by Peter Miller, the long fused 7-year-old full horse by Powerscourt covered a mile and one eighth on turf in 1:52.18.

As the horses in Finn's race approached the first turn in yesterday's race they were going so slow the race announcer said, "Molasses could be leading this group." And he was right. I thought Finn had no hope and that was even BEFORE he had to go five wide turning for home.

Last weekend was a great weekend of horse racing at Belmont. What a card! The performances were incredible in some of the races, though not so much in the Belmont Stakes where the winning horse, Creator, again failed to post a 100+ Beyer.
