Tomorrow's $10 million Dubai World Cup, the richest horserace in the world, boasts an international roster of contenders. One horse in particular, a strapping chestnut colt named Dullahan, has attracted the attention of the world, and has given his group of owners the experience of a lifetime.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — If winning the Kentucky Derby is the dream of every horse trainer, that goes double for Dale Romans, 45, a lifelong native of Louisville who grew up under the shadow of the Twin Spires working for his father, trainer Jerry Romans.

Since saddling his first winner in 1987, Romans has had some big horses pass through his barn, including grass champion Kitten’s Joy and Dubai World Cup winner Roses in May.
