LOUISVILLE, Ky. — If winning the Kentucky Derby is the dream of every horse trainer, that goes double for Dale Romans, 45, a lifelong native of Louisville who grew up under the shadow of the Twin Spires working for his father, trainer Jerry Romans.
Since saddling his first winner in 1987, Romans has had some big horses pass through his barn, including grass champion Kitten’s Joy and Dubai World Cup winner Roses in May.
